Aboriginal language revival on Eyre Peninsula

Ghil’ad Zuckermann  is a Professor of Linguistics and Endangered Languages from Adelaide University who is currently attempting  to revive the language spoken on Eyre Peninsula, the Barngala people. These people welcomed him

Professor Zuckermann is an advocate for  language revival as you would expect but he is interested in not only reviving the language but looking at the mental health benefits of the language revival. As languages are becoming extinct at an alarming rate it is interesting to read and hear about what is happening in this area and whether there is success or not.

In the following radio interview he sets out how it was done including using an 1844 German Christian dictionary which is amazing as he is a Jew from Israel:

He also has his own website: http://www.zuckermann.org/
