New Bilingual Autobiography from Aboriginal Studies Press

Kurlumarniny: We Come from the DesertI found this book review in the latest issue of Education: Journal of the NSW Teachers Federation (Vol. 93 No. 5, May 28, 2012).

Kurlumarniny: We Come from the Desert, by Monty Hale, is a bilingual autobiography, written in both English and Nyangumarta. It also pays tribute to the first community initiated, non-government Aboriginal school registered in Australia, which uses two-way education.

I haven’t read it yet, but it looks like a fantastic contribution to ongoing battle for recognition of the importance of Australia’s indigenous languages.
