Land Rights in Israel

This may not seem related to the subject of this blog at all, but I thought this documentary screened on SBS’s Dateline in March this year was fascinating. An Australian native title specialist is being consulted as an expert in a land rights case in Israel, and it is hoped that legal precedents and experience here may have some positive effect on the case. I found this especially interesting because I’ve because I’ve just been reading about expertise and experience traveling in the opposite direction; linguist Professor Ghild’ad Zuckermann is proposing that the experience of reviving the Hebrew language in Israel may be a valuable resource for people reviving Aboriginal languages in Australia to draw upon. There are various articles available for download from his website – see in particular ‘Stop, Revive, Survive!’ written with Michael Walsh for more on this issue.
