Kutju Australia! An Australian Translation of Advance Australia Fair

Nick Reid has just sent us a link to the Kutju Australia project, undertaken by Australian folk musician and all round good guy Ted Egan in collaboration with Alison Nararula Anderson MLA, the children and staff of Ntaria (NT) and Killara (NSW) schools, Sugarkane Music, and Alice Springs Film and Television. They have produced a kit consisting of a DVD, a CD and a book which aims to teach people to sing the Australia national anthem (Advance Australia Fair) in an Indigenous Australian language. My favourite part of the project is that it’s directed toward all Australian children, not just those children who have a direct connection with this language. Follow the link above to the Kutju Australia project page to see a sample video clip of their work. Looks great!
