Traditional Aboriginal Languages vs the monolingual mindset

As part of the AIATSIS seminar series Nick Reid presented this lecture titled ‘Traditional Aboriginal Languages vs the monolingual mindset’. Nick uses examples from film, radio, tv and newspaper articles to demonstrate some unfortunately common attitudes towards Aboriginal languages that are given voice in the mainstream Australian media. This lecture is aimed at both linguists and non-linguists and, like all the AIATSIS webcasts I’ve watched so far, the lecture was very informative.
