The Queensland State Library has some interesting stuff about Torres Strait and Queensland Aboriginal Languages online. They’ve got a list of a few language centres active in the state, and some information about the types of projects each of them do. There are also some great virtual books about Aboriginal cultures and languages, some of which have audio so you can listen to what some of the languages sound like. I really liked these, they’re lots of fun, and it’s excellent being able to access the books online. There’s also a video of an Elder of the Gunggari Aboriginal people of south-west Queensland talking about the importance of caring for language. It’s about 5 minutes long and is worth a look too!
