Australian Indigenous Languages Database

Annie: Access to the Indigenous Languages Database can be found here, it is run as part of the Austlang system by  AIATSIS. ‘The database contains the following information about each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language: alternative/variant names and spellings, history of the number of speakers, geographical distribution, classifications from various sources, resources, documentation, programs, researchers.”

I have found it a really interesting site, and it shows clearly how much work in research and recording there is still to be done.

Another site I’ve found helpful is this one, where you can download audio of stories told in Indigenous languages and the English translations.
